Fire Extinguisher Training. This a 5 part course culminating with a written exam and practical evaluation.
The course consists of:
- An examination of the anatomy of a Fire Extinguisher
- The classifications of a Fire Extinguisher and their appropriate uses.
- Maintenance requirements of a Fire Extinguisher
- The proper operation of a Fire Extinguisher
- Hazards associated with fire fighting fires with a Fire Extinguisher
Upon completion the student will be able to asses the situation, take appropriate actions based on their assessment. Utilize appropriate classification of Fire Extinguisher based on the type of fire they are fighting. Additionally, they will understand the maintenance requirements, and operation of a Fire Extinguisher. Plus, recognize the Hazards of fighting a fire.
Required – Successful completion requires a correct score of 80% or higher
Required – Successful completion requires student know how to read the pressure gauge, assess the situation and know when to use the fire extinguisher, follow the P.A.S.S. method when using the fire extinguisher, never lets the fire between him and the exit, watches the area of the fire after it is extinguished, able to perform a monthly and yearly inspection, can read and understand the UL ratings, and uses the inspection indicator to check for hydrostatic or six year maintenance.
Upon successful course completion, including demonstration of skills competency on all learning stations and passing the required skills and written test, the student will receive a Fire Extinguisher course certificate, and wallet card valid for 1 year.
